Electrical rubber grommets line the hole where wire passes through sheet metal, panels, firewalls and enclosures, so sharp edges cannot cut the insulation. We stock 9 black rubber snap-in sizes from 1/8" to 1" inside diameter for automotive, marine, trailer and control-panel wiring.

How to size a rubber grommet

  1. Inside diameter: match it to the wire, cable or bundle passing through — snug, not crushed.
  2. Panel hole: drill the hole to fit the grommet's groove, not its outside diameter.
  3. Panel thickness: all of our grommets have a 1/16" groove, so they seat in sheet metal and panels up to about 1/16" thick.

Our rubber grommet size chart walks through all three measurements.

FAQ

Do grommets need fasteners?

No. These are snap-in grommets: push the grommet into the hole so the panel edge seats in its groove.

What is the difference between ID and OD?

ID is the hole the wire goes through; OD is the overall outside size of the grommet.

Can I use a grommet on a firewall?

Yes — grommets are commonly used where wiring passes through firewalls, body panels and bulkheads. Check the temperature rating on the listing for hot locations.
